Produce Notes: This week’s share has a special treat: flax from my sister’s farm in Montana. Flax is a wonderful addition to breads, granola, salads, even on peanut butter toast! I hope you enjoy this unique addition to your last CSA share.
Your share also includes 1 lb of dragon langerie dry beans. This is the same purple streaked, unusual looking variety of fresh shelling bean you received this summer. You can cook dragon langerie beans the same as you would any other dry bean. I love to simmer beans, onions and garlic in water in the crock pot on low heat all day long. Remember to salt the water you cook the beans in after the cooking is done. This helps the beans retain their structure, while still absorbing that nice salty taste.
Winter Duck Eggs: Would you like fresh, beautiful duck eggs delivered to your door each week? Please contact my Aunt Dusty for details!
Happy Winter Days! This is the last delivery for the 2009 CSA season. Thanks to each of you for your support and encouragement throughout the year. If you haven’t signed up for the 2010 season, please email me this week to hold your spot. Sign up now to pay the 2009 subscription price!
May your winter and spring be filled with abundance and delight in the simple gifts each day offers.
