Spring Comes on Her Own Terms

Friday, April 3rd, 2009

It rains, pours, breaks out in glorious sun, then hails, turns windy, dark, cold before the stars come out, like flashlights in the sky.  I try not to “wish” the weather here or gone.  Meanwhile, the frogs have started caroling in the canyon, the robins gather for social hour in the fields, and of course bright daffodils sing sunny songs with their cheery faces.  I am working hard, in the propagation house, the fields, and in the farm office.  The garlic is shooting up through thick maple leaf mulch.  Piglets are rooting, squealing, piling on top of each other just for fun.  The lilacs are budding.  The rhubarb is unfurling in near neon shades of green.  Welcome to Spring.  -AJ
